La Crete

Welcome to La Crete Learning Store

La Crete is a hamlet in northern Alberta, located in the Mackenzie County. It is about 135 kilometres southeast of High Level  and 800 kilometres north of Edmonton. La Crete is a blossoming community, surrounded by the beauty of the Buffalo Head Hills, the majestic Peace River and abundant farmland.

The name "La Crête" means "the ridge" in French, which is how the earliest settlers described the area they settled.

As of 2006, La Crete had a total population of 2,166. As a predominantly Mennonite community, the residents typically speak both English and Low German.
